This is Danny's story...

Danny, now 67, sat on the sofa with two of his grandchildren. “When I was a boy,” he said with a smile, “I used to go to my grandad’s warehouse. He was a wholesaler — sold food to shops. The place was huge to me, stacked with crates and boxes, and always smelled of fruit and flour and cardboard.”

He chuckled softly. “But what I really remember are the biscuits. There were all sorts — digestives, jam-filled, ginger nuts — and every time I visited, Grandad would let me pick one packet to take home. I pretended to think about it… but I always chose the chocolate ones.”

The kids grinned. “Every time?” asked one of the grandsons.

“Every single time,” Danny nodded. “They were just too good to pass up.”

He paused, his smile thoughtful. “But more than the biscuits, it was being with Grandad. That’s what made it special.”

reLOVE have digtised more than 4000 photos for Danny along with his fathers' slide collection. Danny is telling his story to his children and grandchildren and now he has all of his images digitised he's also putting together a photobook collating all of the best family memories.

Every couple of years Danny and his siblings along with as many of their children, grandchildren and great-granchildren as they can muster get together for a summer garden party. ThIs year, the going home present for his siblings, children, nieces and nephews - "the family history book"
